Activity set
This activity set gives you an overview of the Intermediate module. It covers the resources that will be useful, learning expectations and teacher preparation.
Activity set summary
In this set, students will develop their understanding of programming principles by learning how to use repeat loops.
Student's previous experience
Students should have experience of the forward, right, and left commands. If they have not used the Rapid Router game before, familiarise yourself with levels 1 to 16, and pick out suitable activities from the Beginner plans to create a preparatory lesson, before moving onto the following activities.
Teacher preparation
If you have not used the Rapid Router game before, set up your class accounts to record progress. (you can register at: www.codeforlife.education).
Learning expectations
In this activity set, students will:
Create algorithms to move on–screen vans around different routes
Debug their programs
Use repeat loops, and use repeat loops within other repeat loops (extension)

Pupils should be taught to:
Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems; solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts; use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs; work with variables and various forms of input and output
Use logical reasoning to explain how some simple algorithms work and to detect and correct errors in algorithms and programs
Select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals
